St Modwen completes £4 million land sale in Taunton to David Wilson30th December 2013

St Modwen has completed the sale of 4.7 acres of land, for around £4 million, to national housebuilder David Wilson Homes,Regeneration developers St Modwen has completed the sale of 4.7 acres of land, for around £4 million, to national housebuilder David Wilson Homes, to deliver the third phase of homes at the 65 acre mixed-use site at Langford Mead in Taunton, Somerset.

The third phase of housing at Langford Mead will incorporate 72 homes comprising two to five bedroom houses. Work on site is due to start in summer 2014, once final planning consent is approved. David Wilson Homes has already successfully delivered the first phase of homes at the scheme, of which 90 per cent are now sold and occupied.

Ben Cook, Regional Residential Director for St Modwen, said: “We are making steady progress at this £130m mixed-use development at Langford Mead and are delighted to be announcing the third phase of homes here. The success of the first phase by David Wilson Homes and the ongoing construction of the second phase by Taylor Wimpey show that confidence is returning in the house building industry.

“We’re looking forward to continuing to work with David Wilson Homes to further strengthen the residential offering in Taunton and specifically at Langford Mead, which will eventually incorporate 550 homes over a series of planned phases.”

The third phase of residential development at Langford Mead follows three phases of commercial activity creating a 12 acre business park where tenants include Booker Cash & Carry, West Country Feeds and Somerset County Council.
