Barton Willmore takes 10 year lease at The Blade office building in ReadingPlanning and design consultancy Barton Willmore has taken a ten year lease with a fifth year break on 11,670 sq ft of space at The Blade, the iconic office building in Reading. Aviva Investors, who are the owners of The Blade, have leased the tenth floor and part of the ninth floor to their new tenants at a headline rent of £30 per sq ft.

Barton Willmore joins Bracket, Hays Recruitment, Cambio Healthcare and Megabuyte within the building, amounting to over 30,000 sq ft being signed to occupiers during 2013. Kaplan Financial and Urban Science already occupy three floors of the building, which is now over 50 per cent let.

 

There is 52,560 sq ft available over six upper floors with the capability of accommodating occupiers of 4,400 sq ft upwards. The quoting rent is now £32 per sq ft.

Julian Cobourne, Aviva Investors said; “2013 was a positive year for lettings at The Blade, with an additional five new tenants choosing to relocate into the building during the year. The 2013 Reading take-up, at 434,636 sq ft is a 58 per cent increase on 2012 and outperformed the ten year average for the town. With headline rents remaining robust and occupier demand showing further encouraging signs of improvement, we are forecasting another good year for 2014.”
