Construction starts at Tern Valley Business Park in Market Drayton12th March 2014

Construction starts at Tern Valley Business Park in Market DraytonShropshire Council has signed an agreement with Shrewsbury-based developer Redstart Construction Limited to develop 13 acres of land at  the Tern Valley Business Park in Market Drayton, which will create more than 200,000 sq ft of floor space and in excess of 600 jobs.

Designed to cater for the needs of expanding local businesses and new inward investment, the second phase work will initially develop 42,000 sq ft of small workshops and 9,000 sq ft of serviced offices. Interest has also been attracted for two specific design and build schemes on the site.

Plots, which are available on 999 year leases, will be marketed by Shrewsbury-based commercial agents Halls.

Redstart Construction Ltd is working alongside Shrewsbury-based Matrix IDC Limited, general contractors for the whole site. Buildings will meet the Building Research Establishment’s environmental standards for eco-efficiency and sustainability in construction to BREEAM ‘Very Good’ standard.

John Gwilliam, managing director of Redstart Construction Limited, said around 40 people would be employed for up to three years on the development, dependent on demand for business units.

“We are very pleased to have negotiated an agreement with Shropshire Council to promote this important site for Market Drayton and trust that it will be extremely successful for the local economy.”

Councillor Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for business growth, said: “The council’s investment at Tern Valley demonstrates our commitment to stimulating jobs and business in the county, particularly in our market towns, during these difficult economic times.”

James Evans, Halls’ commercial manager, said the company was delighted to be working with Redstart Construction Ltd and Shropshire Council to promote the exciting new business development. He was confident that there would be strong demand for the workshops and offices on the new development, particularly as Market Drayton has good road links to The Potteries, West Midlands and M6 motorway.
