Persimmon acquires 220 acres in Littlehampton for major mixed use developmentPersimmon Homes has purchased 220 acres of land in Littlehampton, West Sussex, in a deal brokered by property consultantcy CBRE, working with Burton Property on behalf of Greencore Group Plc and other landowners.

Known as Hampton Park, the site, which at present contains 500,000 sq m of glasshouses and various commercial units, will be developed to provide 1,200 new homes, including affordable housing, together with over 13,000 sq m of retail, commercial, community and leisure premises.

In addition, there will be a major highway upgrade, including the construction of the southerly part of the Lyminster bypass.

Persimmon's development, which was granted outline planning permission two years ago, will extend the northern part of Littlehampton, which is a popular seaside resort and harbour town.

CBRE Senior Director, Mark Budden said: “There has been much local support for this landmark site which will bring essential new road infrastructure and inward investment to the town. The vision for the scheme was provided by Burton Property and Greencore Group Plc whose tenacity and skill enabled the scheme to become a reality.

“Hampton Park will also bring many additional economic development benefits to Littlehampton with the Masterplan currently allowing for a range of commercial development which could bring hundreds of new jobs to the area."
