Henry Boot Developments (HBD) has received planning approval for a speculative 100,000 sq ft warehouse and office building at its 200-acre Markham Vale business and distribution park in Derbyshire, which is part funded by the £14.2m Enterprise Zone grant announced in June 2014.
The developer intends to commence building on site within the next six weeks, with a view to completing the work - ready for occupation - by March 2015.
Markham Vale is a regionally significant site, being one of the UK's largest Enterprise Zone developments and is a joint venture between HBD and Derbyshire County Council.
Ben Ward at HBD said: “We are delighted to have received planning consent for the building, which will offer distribution/manufacturing space to a very high specification. We are already engaging with potential occupiers and are confident that the building will bring significant investment and employment opportunities to the region.”
Councillor Joan Dixon, Derbyshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Jobs, Economy and Transport, said: “This is a really exciting time for Markham Vale with development really starting to gain pace. This warehouse will provide yet another excellent opportunity for a business to relocate or set-up at Markham and benefit from all it has to offer − including excellent transport links right next to the M1.”
James Newman, Chairman of the Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), said: “The LEP has been working closely with developers, the Council and Government to secure funding to build ready-made sites for global businesses wanting to set-up in the Sheffield City Region. I am very pleased to see that our hard work is paying off.
“These new developments will help the City Region to keep up with mounting investor demand for medium-sized business units as well as larger areas for bigger investors.
“Our partners at Henry Boot Developments are now ready to start creating the next generation of modern business spaces for companies looking to be part of the Enterprise Zone at Markham Vale. This development marks another exciting step forward for our Zone, which has already welcomed 18 new companies with 345 new jobs created on the Zone and around 300 set to be created in the coming months.
Existing occupiers at Markham Vale include Andrew Page, Holdsworth Foods, Ready Egg Products, Gould Alloys and Industrial Ancillaries.
