Incidents following celebrations
Six individuals were stabbed and 24 arrests were made in north London following the Arsenal victory celebrations. Most of those injured did not sustain serious harm. However, one man, in his 20s, was transported to hospital in a life-threatening state after an attack on Hornsey Road shortly before 20:30 BST on Sunday. Authorities have since confirmed his condition is stable.
The Metropolitan Police deployed over 500 officers for the event, which drew hundreds of thousands of supporters. These fans gathered to celebrate Arsenal’s Premier League title success. During the festivities, one officer suffered a slash wound to the hand, and another was hit on the head by objects thrown by members of the crowd.
Among the 24 arrests, 10 people were taken into custody on suspicion of assaulting police officers. Additionally, three individuals were arrested on suspicion of sexual assault, and one person was arrested for grievous bodily harm in connection with an attack that resulted in a head injury. Four police vans located in Theberton Street, Islington, sustained damage, including dents and broken lights.
Community safety measures
On Sunday, the London Fire Brigade issued a warning to fans, advising them against climbing on rooftops. Fire crews had to rescue 75 stranded individuals from various heights during the celebrations. As the evening progressed and the majority of the crowds dispersed, six stabbings occurred, according to the Met.

In response to these incidents, officers were granted additional stop and search powers overnight. Cdr Stuart Bell, who oversaw the Met’s public order operation for the parade, extended gratitude to the vast majority of Arsenal supporters who attended the day’s events safely and responsibly.
He noted that while the majority behaved well, there were instances of anti-social behaviour and other criminal acts. Officers were required to intervene in these situations, which included assaults on their colleagues. Cdr Bell further stated that as the evening drew to a close and most attendees had left, there was unfortunately further violence, including incidents linked to gangs.
He confirmed that officers responded swiftly to each stabbing incident, and investigations into these events are currently ongoing. The day had begun with a celebratory atmosphere as Mikel Arteta’s Premier League champions departed Emirates Stadium on an open-top bus, accompanied by the FIFA Champions Cup-winning women’s team and staff.
The streets of north London were filled with a sea of red and white, marking a significant day in the club’s history. The celebrations included numerous photographs taken from the bus, street level, and aerial views, capturing the festive mood before the later incidents.
