Lufthansa Strike Germany Flights: Pilots to Walk Out on April 13-14, 2026

Lufthansa pilots are set to strike on April 13-14, 2026, with the walkout expected to commence at 12:01 AM on Monday and conclude at 11:59 PM on Tuesday. This action is anticipated to disrupt hundreds of flights, particularly affecting major hubs in Munich and Frankfurt.

In advance of the strike, Lufthansa has already canceled nearly 75% of its scheduled departures from Frankfurt, which amounts to about 350 flights. The strike will also impact Lufthansa Cargo, Lufthansa Cityline, and Eurowings, further exacerbating travel disruptions.

In February, a similar one-day strike grounded Lufthansa flights, resulting in nearly 800 cancellations and affecting around 100,000 passengers. The Cockpit Union, representing the pilots, has expressed frustration over the airline’s lack of willingness to negotiate a resolution to ongoing collective bargaining disputes.

Andreas Pinheiro, a representative from the Cockpit Union, stated, “The Cockpit Union feels compelled to take this step after the employers showed no discernible willingness to reach a solution in several collective bargaining disputes.” He added that despite a conscious decision to avoid strike action during the Easter holidays, the airline did not present any serious offers to address the pilots’ concerns.

As the strike date approaches, travelers are advised to stay informed about their flight statuses and consider alternative arrangements. Lufthansa has already begun notifying passengers of cancellations, and the situation is expected to evolve as the strike unfolds.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the full extent of cancellations and potential impacts on other airlines operating in Germany. Observers are closely watching how this strike will affect air travel in the region, especially during a busy travel season.
