Richard Osman accepted his OBE from Princess Anne during a recent investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle. He shared that although he felt very nervous, he was immensely proud to be British.
Osman received the OBE for his contributions to literature and broadcasting. Known for his best-selling novels, particularly the Thursday Murder Club, he also gained fame as the former host of popular quiz shows like Pointless and House of Games.
During the ceremony, Osman described the experience as feeling more like a responsibility than an honour. He remarked, “I felt very nervous going in there,” explaining how he prepared for the moment by thinking about how to “shake hands, walk back, bow, and walk off.” His humility resonates with many who admire his work.
On the same day, 67 other recipients were honoured by Princess Anne. Among them was comedian Bill Bailey, who received an MBE for services to entertainment. Chef Marcus Wareing also received an MBE for his contributions to culinary arts and broadcasting.
Osman’s journey has been remarkable. He first became a household name as co-host of the BBC quiz show Pointless. Since then, he has transitioned into writing, captivating readers with engaging mysteries.
In a personal touch, Osman met his wife, Ingrid Oliver, on the set of Richard Osman’s House of Games in 2022. This adds a heartwarming layer to his narrative as he balances personal and professional achievements.
Looking ahead, Osman stepped down from hosting House of Games in March 2026. His fans are eager to see what new projects he will embark on next—whether in literature or television remains unknown.
