North Macedonia to Host Junior Eurovision
North Macedonia is set to host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest on March 7, 2026, a notable event as the country has participated in nearly every edition of the contest since its inception, missing only three years.
In a related development, Senhit will represent San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, performing alongside Boy George. This marks Senhit’s fourth appearance for San Marino, having previously represented the country in 2011 and 2021.
The San Marino Song Contest 2026 concluded recently at the Teatro Nuovo theatre in Dogana, featuring 21 finalists from 13 countries. Notably, the voting for this contest was comprised entirely of jury votes, reflecting a shift in how results can be determined.
Historically, the last Eurovision competition held in the former Yugoslavia took place in 2008 in Belgrade, Serbia. Since then, the region has seen various countries participate, with North Macedonia’s placement in the Junior Eurovision 2025 being seventh, scoring 141 points.
The UK has struggled in recent years at the Eurovision Song Contest, having made the top 10 only once in the last 16 years. Look Mum No Computer will represent the UK in 2026 with the song “Eins, Zwei, Drei,” which has drawn attention for its quirky lyrics.
Roberto Sergio, a representative from San Marino, noted, “We have actually applied. San Marino has submitted its candidacy to the EBU, but unfortunately we will not be hosting the event because another country applied before us, so that country will be contacted first.” This highlights the competitive nature of hosting rights for such prestigious events.
As the countdown to the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 continues, observers are keenly awaiting the performances, particularly Senhit and Boy George’s entry, which will take place in the second half of the first semi-final.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the full lineup and other participating countries, but excitement is building as the event approaches.
