Greg James is currently undertaking a significant challenge, cycling 1,000km in eight days for Comic Relief. The journey began on March 13, 2026, and will culminate in Edinburgh on March 20, coinciding with Red Nose Day.
James’s route traverses various cities, towns, and villages across England and Wales, including notable stops in Worcester, Malvern, and Birmingham. He is expected to spend at least eight hours each day cycling, primarily on a tandem bike.
During his ride, fans have gathered to show their support, notably lining Worcester Bridge as he passed through the area. “It feels exciting, amazing,” said Douglas Dole, a supporter who witnessed the event.
James made a pit stop at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern, where he interacted with fans and shared his thoughts on the challenge. “Cycling 1,000km in eight days will be brutally hard and relentlessly demanding, but that’s exactly the point,” he remarked.
This marks Greg James’s third challenge for Comic Relief, following his previous efforts in 2016 and 2018. He humorously reflected on his return to such a demanding endeavor, stating, “Well, here I am again – I honestly thought I would never be so silly to say yes to Comic Relief again, but why not make it a hat-trick.”
The event is being organized in collaboration with the Widows Sons Masonic Bikers Association, who are assisting in logistics and support throughout the journey.
As he continues his ride, Radio 1 is broadcasting live segments of the event, titled Radio 1’s Longest Ride with Greg James, allowing fans to follow his progress in real-time.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the total amount raised for Comic Relief through this challenge, but the enthusiasm and support from the public are evident as he pedals towards his goal.
