Hugh Bonneville Rules Out Return to Paddington Cinematic Universe

In a recent update, Hugh Bonneville has ruled out any possibility of reprising his role as Mr. Brown in the beloved Paddington Cinematic Universe. The announcement comes as excitement builds for the upcoming film, Paddington in Peru, which is set to be released on April 1, 2026.

The new film will follow Paddington as he journeys back to Peru to visit his Aunt Lucy, only to discover that she has gone missing. Teaming up with the Brown family, Paddington embarks on a heartfelt adventure to find her.

Bonneville, who has been a cherished part of the Paddington franchise since the first movie released in 2014, expressed his sentiments about stepping away from the role. “I don’t think so. I really don’t. I’ve loved it, but I’m getting on a bit,” he stated, highlighting the natural progression of the franchise.

He further noted, “It’s a younger man’s job, but you can get other actors in and it will work just as well, because it’s all about the bear.” This sentiment reflects the community’s affection for Paddington, which transcends individual actors.

Directed by Dougal Wilson, Paddington in Peru is anticipated to bring fresh adventures to the screen, with the franchise’s charm and humor intact. Bonneville’s absence will be felt, but the film is expected to continue captivating audiences.

In addition to Paddington in Peru, there are plans for a fourth Paddington film, confirmed by Studiocanal CEO Anna Marsh. “There will be a fourth film. We’re thinking about the next movies and we’re working on a new TV series as well as the stage show musical with Sonia Friedman and Eliza Lumley,” she shared.

As fans eagerly await the new installment, the Paddington franchise continues to thrive, promising more adventures and heartwarming moments. The community remains excited about the future of Paddington and his friends.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the full cast for Paddington in Peru, but it is expected that familiar faces will return to join Paddington on his quest.
