Urgent: kendamil infant formula recall Due to Contamination Risk

What Happened

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has announced a recall of Kendamil brand infant formula due to potential contamination with cereulide toxin. The affected products are one-kilogram containers of Kendamil Infant Formula with whole milk, manufactured on “2025 MA 01” and with a best before date of “2027 MA 01.” The lot numbers involved in the recall are 897274 and 888632. These products were sold at Costco Wholesale stores across Canada.

Why It Matters

Cereulide is a toxin produced by Bacillus cereus bacteria, which can cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and diarrhea. The toxin is highly heat stable, meaning it cannot be eliminated through cooking or preparation. Although no illnesses have been reported in connection with the consumption of this infant formula, the CFIA advises consumers to refrain from using, selling, or distributing the recalled products to prevent potential health risks.

What’s Next

Consumers who have purchased the affected Kendamil Infant Formula are urged to stop using it immediately. They can dispose of the product securely or return it to the store where it was purchased. For further information, consumers can visit the CFIA website, which provides additional details and images of the recalled items.
