Ncfc: Coastal Construction Liquidation Impacting

Coastal Construction Faces Liquidation

“We did everything we possibly could to keep it going, but we got to the point where we couldn’t hold off anymore,” stated Kevin Waddison, co-owner of Coastal Construction, as the company was put into liquidation owing creditors £1.06 million. This decision marks a significant turning point for the firm, which had been the official building contractor for Norwich City Football Club (ncfc).

Coastal Construction, established by Peter Waddison, who passed away in 2023, ceased trading in October 2025. The company had 26 creditors, including Norwich City, which filed a petition to wind up the business. The financial strain on the company was exacerbated by nutrient neutrality planning rules that caused significant delays to housing projects, further complicating its financial situation.

In a desperate attempt to salvage the business, Kevin and his brother Gary Waddison injected around £300,000 of their own money into Coastal Construction last year. However, despite their efforts, the mounting pressure from creditors became insurmountable. “It shows the sort of pressure we were getting from some of our creditors,” Kevin Waddison remarked, reflecting on the challenges they faced.

The liquidation of Coastal Construction not only affects the Waddison brothers but also has broader implications for the local construction industry and the ongoing projects tied to Norwich City. The company had been involved in various construction projects, including paying for a hospitality box at Carrow Road, which underscores its close ties to the football club.

As the situation develops, the impact on ongoing projects and the future of relationships between Coastal Construction and its creditors, including ncfc, remains to be seen. “Unfortunately, we could not trade any longer,” Kevin Waddison concluded, highlighting the difficult reality faced by the company.

With the liquidation process underway, creditors will be looking for ways to recover their debts, and the future of many projects that Coastal Construction was involved in hangs in the balance. The local community and stakeholders in the construction sector are closely monitoring the situation as it unfolds.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the next steps for the creditors and the potential for any restructuring or recovery efforts. The ramifications of this liquidation will likely be felt across the region, particularly among those who relied on Coastal Construction for their projects.
