New Leadership at Tranmere Rovers
“I’m delighted to be here. The opportunity to manage a massive club was too good to turn down,” said Pete Wild upon his appointment as the new manager of Tranmere Rovers. Wild steps in at a crucial time for the club, which is currently positioned 19th in League Two, just seven points clear of the relegation zone.
Wild replaces Andy Crosby, who was dismissed following a dismal run of ten defeats in eleven games. The club’s recent struggles have left them in a precarious situation, prompting the management to seek a change in leadership.
Wild’s first match in charge will be against Fleetwood Town, a team he previously managed until January 2026. His experience includes over 300 matches in management, having begun his career with his boyhood club, Oldham Athletic, in 2018.
During his tenure at Halifax Town, Wild achieved play-off positions twice in the National League over three seasons, showcasing his capability to improve team performance. He later managed Barrow before taking the helm at Fleetwood.
Mark Palios, the club’s chairman, expressed confidence in Wild’s abilities, stating, “Pete was the standout candidate – he has managed more than 300 matches and has shown the ability to improve the teams he has worked with.” This endorsement highlights the expectations placed on Wild as he embarks on this new chapter.
“We’re in a tough predicament at the moment but I believe we can make progress and push forwards with the squad we have at the club,” Wild added, indicating his determination to stabilize the team amidst current challenges.
Wild will be supported by Adam Temple as his assistant, while Andy Parkinson resumes his role as first-team coach. Together, they will aim to instill confidence and a winning mentality in the squad.
As Tranmere Rovers look to turn their fortunes around, the club and its supporters will be keenly watching how Wild’s leadership unfolds in the coming matches.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding any additional changes to the coaching staff or player roster as Wild settles into his new role.
