Dan Skelton Prepares L’Eau Du Sud for Champion Chase at Cheltenham

Dan Skelton Prepares for Cheltenham

Dan Skelton is training L’Eau Du Sud for the Champion Chase at Cheltenham, following a remarkable victory in the Shloer Chase where the horse won by 15 lengths. This victory comes after a lengthy absence, as L’Eau Du Sud has not raced in 223 days.

Skelton expressed confidence in L’Eau Du Sud’s capabilities, stating, “He loves running fresh,” which bodes well for the upcoming race. The horse has shown exceptional form this season, winning both of his runs by a combined total of 33 lengths.

In addition to L’Eau Du Sud, Skelton is also focusing on other horses in his stable. Kateira has been highlighted as his each-way horse of the week for the Coral Cup, carrying 11 stone—a notable reduction from the 12 stone she previously carried.

Skelton remarked, “I have put up Kateira as my each-way horse of the week in all the previews and the ground has come right for her in the old Coral Cup.” This indicates a strategic approach as he aims to maximize the potential of his horses in upcoming races.

Meanwhile, Majborough has also been a standout, having won the Dublin Racing Festival by 19 lengths. Skelton is aware of the competition, acknowledging the challenge posed by Majborough as he prepares for the Champion Chase.

Skelton’s ambitions extend beyond individual races; he is keen on surpassing Willie Mullins in the trainers’ championship. He stated, “We will have to do a lot to beat Majborough, but we are very happy with our prep,” reflecting his determination to succeed.

With the Champion Chase approaching, Skelton’s preparations are under close observation. As he gears up for this prestigious event, the racing community is eager to see how L’Eau Du Sud and his other horses perform.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the final line-up for the Champion Chase, but Skelton’s focus and strategy suggest he is well-prepared for the challenges ahead.
