Jaecoo Range Rover Lookalike: The Jaecoo 8 SUV

Breaking Development in the SUV Market

The Jaecoo 8, a new seven-seat plug-in hybrid SUV from Jaecoo, has garnered attention for its striking resemblance to the Range Rover. Launched by the Chery Group, this flagship model is poised to compete in the luxury SUV market, with a starting price of £45,500 for the Luxury model and £47,500 for the Executive model.

Specifications and Features

The Jaecoo 8 is equipped with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, complemented by two electric motors and a three-speed transmission. This powertrain delivers a combined output of 422bhp, allowing the vehicle to accelerate from 0-62mph in just 5.8 seconds. Additionally, the Jaecoo 8 supports fast charging at up to 40kW, enabling a 30-80% charge in approximately 20 minutes.

Driving Range and Performance

In terms of efficiency, the Jaecoo 8 boasts an electric-only driving range of up to 83 miles. When combined with a full tank and fully charged battery, the total range exceeds 700 miles. This impressive capability positions the Jaecoo 8 as a practical choice for both urban and long-distance travel.

Interior and Warranty

The interior of the Jaecoo 8 features dual 12.3-inch displays and a 14-speaker Sony sound system, enhancing the luxury experience. The vehicle also offers a wading depth capability of 600mm, making it suitable for various terrains. To further instill confidence in buyers, Jaecoo provides a seven-year or 100,000-mile warranty, along with an eight-year or 100,000-mile warranty for the battery.

Market Reception and Sales

Jaecoo has quickly gained popularity among buyers who appreciate the Range Rover-like styling and competitive pricing. Last year, the brand sold 28,232 cars, and nearly 7,000 units were sold in the first two months of 2026, indicating strong demand for its vehicles.

Official Statements

Victor Zhang, the UK country director for Jaecoo, stated, “This is the first time we’re offering both a six- and a seven-seat configuration within a single model, ensuring the Jaecoo 8 is suited to a wide range of use cases – from families to professionals and everyone in between.” This flexibility is expected to attract a diverse customer base.

Future Developments and Uncertainties

While the Jaecoo 8 has made a significant impact in the market, details remain unconfirmed regarding how Jaecoo plans to balance the vehicle’s premium content and pricing with its engineering ties to other Chery group models. Additionally, it remains unclear whether future flagship models will utilize unique underpinnings instead of shared Chery platforms.
