New Dacia Striker Unveiled

“Some customers think that driving an SUV is not as pleasant as a hatch or a wagon. [Such] propositions have a better balance between driveability, efficiency and space,” said Frank Marotte, Dacia’s sales boss, highlighting the brand’s commitment to enhancing the driving experience with its new model.

The new Dacia Striker is designed to be a more satisfying drive compared to its predecessor, the Bigster. It will feature a range of hybrid engines, including the most fuel-efficient version that combines a 1.8-litre petrol engine with a 49bhp electric motor, yielding a total of 153bhp and 170Nm of torque.

In addition to the hybrid options, Dacia is rolling out a new four-wheel drive system called Hybrid 150, which integrates a mild-hybrid setup with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and an additional rear electric motor.

Measuring 4.65 meters in length, the Striker will be longer than the Bigster, providing ample space for passengers and cargo. Dacia aims to grow its mid-size car sales from one-fifth to one-third of its total volume, with the Striker playing a pivotal role in this strategy.

The Striker is expected to start from around £25,000 in the UK, with a price point below €25,000 in Europe, approximately £21.6k. This pricing strategy aims to attract a broader customer base, especially those seeking value in the crossover segment.

Dacia describes the Striker as an “unexpected and dynamic crossover,” which reflects its intention to stand out in a crowded market. The model will also feature a full-length glass roof and a familiar steering wheel design, enhancing its appeal.

As Dacia continues to carve out a credible presence in the C-segment, with Bigster deliveries beginning in July 2025, the Striker is poised to make a significant impact. “Dacia will hope the attractive Striker has the appeal to make an impact here – and everywhere else,” the company stated.

With plans to launch four new all-electric models by 2030, including a compact city car, Dacia is clearly positioning itself for the future of the automotive industry.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the exact launch date, but the anticipation surrounding the Striker is palpable as customers await its arrival.
