Row K is currently navigating a challenging landscape as it reevaluates its business model following significant financial losses. The company recently reported a staggering loss of around $10 million from the January release of ‘Dead Man’s Wire’. In light of these challenges, Megan Colligan and two other senior executives are reportedly in talks to leave the company, raising questions about the future direction of Row K.
Despite these setbacks, Row K remains active in the film industry, having acquired four films at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). However, the company is also facing the prospect of putting ‘Poetic License’ back on the market after it was championed by Colligan, who has been a key figure in its development.
In a separate but equally compelling story, local adventurers Sean Phelps and Jonny Towers recently completed an incredible journey, rowing 3,200 miles from Lanzarote to Antigua. The duo arrived a day ahead of schedule, greeted by cheering crowds and a sense of community pride.
Sean expressed his motivation, stating, “I think it’s an amazing thing to do and I’ve watched a few events and I want to just make my family proud of that, proud of their dad and husband.” Jonny added, “To support the two great charities we’re doing it for – Care After Combat and Samaritans – we’ve both lost friends through mental health problems and suicide.” Their efforts have raised £15,928.84 of a £50,000 target for charity, showcasing the power of community support.
Meanwhile, the local community was shaken by a fire that broke out at Inferno, a sun bed business on the Antrim Road. Emergency services were called to the scene at around 7 pm, and thankfully, no one was hurt. Local resident Cathy Toal recounted, “I got a call at about 7pm about the fire. When I got here, the place was cordoned off and the fire service were here already.”
As Row K continues to grapple with its financial challenges, observers are keenly watching how the leadership changes will impact the company’s future. The upcoming release dates for their films, including ‘Cliffhanger’ on August 28, 2025 and ‘Charlie Harper’ on September 25, 2025, will be pivotal moments for the company as it seeks to regain its footing in the competitive film industry.
