Tom Aspinall Signs with Eddie Hearn
Tom Aspinall, 32, has officially signed with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Talent Agency, becoming the first athlete to join the agency. This new commercial and advisory deal comes as Aspinall continues his recovery from double eye surgery.
Aspinall’s last fight ended in a no-contest against Ciryl Gane due to an eye poke, and he has been dealing with eye problems since that bout. It has been four months since he suffered the severe injury, and details remain unconfirmed regarding when he will be able to return to action.
Despite signing with Hearn, Aspinall remains under contract with the UFC, where he has achieved a total of eight wins, seven of which ended in the first round. Aspinall expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating, “Eddie has built one of the biggest brands in sport and understands how to take athletes to the next level, both inside and outside of competition.”
Eddie Hearn welcomed Aspinall to the team, saying, “Welcome to the team UFC heavyweight champ Tom Aspinall. Time to get what’s yours.” Hearn’s agency aims to nurture athletes’ careers by managing their brand, which aligns with Aspinall’s goals to grow commercially while continuing to compete.
The relationship between Hearn and UFC president Dana White has been marked by public feuds, but White has stated that he has no issues negotiating with Hearn. This development may signal a potential shift in collaboration between boxing and mixed martial arts, especially with notable figures like Conor Benn also involved in the discussions.
As Aspinall embarks on this new chapter in his career, observers are keen to see how this partnership will unfold and what opportunities it will bring for the heavyweight fighter in the future.
