Travel Warnings UK: Severe Weather Impacts Flights from Dubai

“Given the current weather conditions across the country, thunder is expected,” stated a representative from Dubai Police HQ, highlighting the severe weather impacting travel for UK passengers.

Emirates has issued a travel warning for those departing from Dubai International Airport, advising travelers to be cautious as torrential rain, thunderstorms, and hail are forecasted. This warning comes amid a backdrop of unusual weather patterns affecting both the UK and Dubai.

In the UK, January 2026 saw a significant increase in rainfall, with levels 17% above the long-term average. Northern Ireland recorded its wettest January in 149 years, while England experienced its eighth wettest winter season in February 2026.

As heavy downpours and lightning strikes are expected in Dubai, passengers are advised to arrive at least two hours before their scheduled departure. Road visibility and driving conditions are predicted to be severely hampered, raising concerns for travelers.

Dubai Police have cautioned that thunderstorms are anticipated nationwide, further complicating travel plans. The combination of adverse weather conditions in both locations has led to heightened awareness among travelers.

Ian Jeffrey, GBRR Director at CMAC, commented, “It’s too easy to tell people not to travel,” emphasizing the importance of making informed decisions during such weather events.

With February 2026 being among the warmest and dullest on record for the UK, the ongoing weather disruptions have left many travelers uncertain about their plans. The UK saw a rainfall increase of 13% above average for the winter season, contributing to the current travel warnings.

As the situation develops, travelers are encouraged to stay updated on weather forecasts and airline advisories. Details remain unconfirmed regarding potential flight cancellations or delays, but vigilance is advised.

In light of these challenges, community members are reminded to support one another during travel disruptions, sharing information and resources to ensure safe journeys.
