Erika Kirk Appointed to the U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors
Erika Kirk has been appointed to the U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors by President Donald Trump, marking a significant moment as she takes over a role previously held by her late husband, Charlie Kirk. This appointment comes as the board plays a crucial role in advising the Secretary of War and the President on matters concerning the academy.
Erika Kirk, who is also the chair and chief executive of Turning Point USA, will serve on the board for a minimum of three years or until a successor is appointed. The Board of Visitors consists of 16 members, representing both political parties, and prepares a semiannual report for the Secretary of Defense regarding its views and recommendations for the academy.
Olivia Wales, a spokeswoman for the White House, confirmed Erika Kirk’s appointment, stating, “President Trump made the perfect choice in appointing Erika Kirk to the U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors.” Wales further emphasized that Charlie Kirk had served proudly on the board, inspiring many with his strong Christian faith and love for the country.
Charlie Kirk, a prominent conservative activist, was murdered in September 2025 during a speaking engagement, leaving behind a legacy that Erika Kirk is now set to continue. Wales noted, “Erika Kirk will continue his legacy, and be a fearless advocate for the most elite airpower force in the history of the world whose warriors keep our Nation safe, strong, and free.”
In addition to her leadership role at Turning Point USA, Erika Kirk has a notable background, having won Miss Arizona USA in 2012 and earned her Juris Master’s from Liberty University School of Law in 2019. She also holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science and International Relations from Arizona State University.
The Board of Visitors plays a vital role in shaping the future of the U.S. Air Force Academy, and Erika Kirk’s appointment is seen as a continuation of her husband’s impactful work. Observers expect her to bring a strong voice to the board, advocating for the needs of the academy and its cadets.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding any immediate changes or initiatives that may arise from her appointment, but the board’s ongoing mission to support the academy remains a priority.
