Maxx Crosby Trade Falls Through
The highly anticipated trade of Maxx Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens has collapsed after Crosby failed a physical examination, a crucial step required to finalize the agreement. This development not only impacts Crosby’s immediate future but also leaves the Ravens, who were looking to bolster their defense, in a precarious position.
The trade was set to send Crosby to Baltimore in exchange for two first-round draft picks, including the No. 14 pick in this year’s draft and a future first-rounder in 2027. The Ravens, who finished tied for 28th in the league in sacks last season with only 30, viewed Crosby as a key addition to enhance their defensive capabilities.
Crosby, who underwent surgery in January to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee, had shown promise in the previous season, recording 10 sacks and a career-high 28 tackles for loss. His performance over seven seasons with the Raiders has been impressive, accumulating a total of 69.5 sacks and 133 tackles for loss. Despite his injury, his agent reported that Crosby is recovering well and is ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation.
Last March, Crosby signed a lucrative three-year, $106.5 million contract extension, solidifying his status as one of the Raiders’ cornerstone players. However, his recent injury history and the Raiders’ current situation have cast uncertainty over his future with the team. Crosby had previously expressed frustration with the Raiders after being placed on injured reserve in December, indicating a possible rift between him and the organization.
The Ravens had hoped that acquiring Crosby would be the missing piece in their quest for a Super Bowl championship. As one of the league’s best defensive players since being drafted in 2019, his addition was seen as pivotal. However, with the trade now off the table, the Ravens must reassess their strategy heading into the draft.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding whether a Crosby deal can be revived in some form. The Raiders currently hold the No. 1 pick in the draft and are expected to select Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza, which may further complicate Crosby’s standing within the team.
As the situation develops, both Crosby and the Ravens will be closely monitored by fans and analysts alike. The uncertainty surrounding Crosby’s future with the Raiders, combined with the Ravens’ need for a defensive upgrade, leaves the door open for potential future negotiations.
